How Do I Visit an Offender?

This is offered at no cost to friends and family who have been approved for visiting.  

Both in person and video visiting are scheduled through the Ameelio App.

Apply for Visiting

Before visiting or having a video call, you must be approved by the Iowa Department of Corrections. In order to be approved to visit, you submit the Visitor Application below:

Every adult must complete and submit a Visitor Application.

All minors must be registered on a Visitor Application submitted by their parent or legal guardian.

All applications must be mailed to:

Electronic applications are not accepted. Applications must be printed, signed and mailed.

If you have been denied visitation and wish to appeal, please submit your appeal in writing to:

In your appeal letter please include all information you wish to have considered regarding your visitation denial.

Ameelio Customer Support

Ameelio staff cannot approve or deny contacts, personal identification documents, or visits, as this is managed by facility staff. Please view the Iowa Department of Corrections Visiting Policy for more information on the DOC application and visiting process.
